Porter Precision Products Company is a precision metal working company working primarily with tool steels of either flat stock or cylindrical pieces of 6 inches or less on length and up to an inch and one half in diameter. Other sizes and shapes are possible per the customer's requirements. Most applications require knowledge in blue print reading and use of micrometers and Vernier calipers in inch as well as metric dimensions. Most tolerances are in the .001 to .005 on pre-heat parts and as close as .0002 on finished ground parts. The machines commonly used are manual abrasive cutoff, centerless grinding, surface grinding, ID/OD grinding, lathe, mill, drill, and ram EDM. Various CNC machines (which require past training in computer numerically controlled machining and possible programming using the various languages applicable to each machine) includes lathe, mill, machining center, chucker, and wire EDM. Other positions would require maintenance of the above as well as a good working knowledge of electrical as well as general maintenance. Other shop positions would be shipping and receiving, expediting, inspection, and stock room clerks.

The company employees a variety of office personnel including but not limited to the following: Receptionist, buyer, accounts receivable, accounts payable, DP systems operator, payroll administrator, executive secretary, foreign shipments clerk, billing clerk, data entry clerk, timekeeper, inventory clerk, various customer service and engineering personnel. Middle management would include shop supervisors. Upper management would include Production Control, Human Resources, Plant Manager, Treasurer, and Plant Engineer.
